Not Just Another Cat Guy Artist
Cornelis Visscher* (1629 - 1658), was a Dutch Golden Age engraver. I like to think he was the cat dad to a tubby tabby whom he adored.

My favorite of his work is "The Large Cat" 1657 (below). This may be his best-known work.

By the way, why are all of his feline subjects portrayed mid-nap? Maybe he just felt he wasn't any good at painting cat eyes, so would sketch the cats while they slept??
I have very little info on him, but judging by his work, he must have known cats very well because he portrayed them in exquisite detail. (And engraving is HARD to do!)
Before he reached the age of 30, he died a shipwreck victim.
